DO YOU HAVE AN ELECTRONICS POLICY?
Camp is the perfect place to get your hands dirty, play outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air. We love that our campers immerse themselves in a screen free summer! Leave your cell phones and gaming consoles at home. Campers can bring approved MP3 players for music, if they choose.
WHERE DO CAMPERS COME FROM?
Our campers come from all over the United States. We have large groups of children from the New York metropolitan area, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore/Washington, Florida, and California. We have even had some international campers from England, Germany, Australia, and Israel.
ARE THERE ANY OUT OF CAMP TRIPS?
Chipinaw & Silver Lake goes on some cool trips, which are organized by division. Some of our trips include several different water and amusement parks, local bowling alleys, and movie theaters. Our Juniors (7th graders), Seniors (8th graders), and Super Seniors (9th graders) on our Chipinaw campus go on overnight trips to Hershey Park, Boston, Virginia or Canada. These trips do incur an extra expense. Our Silver Lake Super Seniors go on an overnight trip during both sessions to Camelback Beach and Hershey Park. Children also leave camp to compete in intercamp games and tournaments. Our 10th and 11th grade waiters and waitresses take a rafting trip down the Delaware River and campouts at our own private campsite. Check out the Evening Activities & Special Events sections for more information.
HOW DOES BUNKING WORK?
Campers are usually grouped in bunks by grade. Very rarely, parents will request a placement by age. We do our best to meet mutual bunk requests between campers.
DO YOU HAVE A DOCTOR IN CAMP?
We have a doctor, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and up to eight registered nurses on the grounds at all times. Our infirmary is staffed twenty-four hours per day. Check out the Camp Life page for more information.
HOW DOES LAUNDRY WORK?
Our laundry is sent to an outside contractor each Wednesday and returned on Saturday. Laundry for each camper is kept together in a pre-assigned laundry bag and is returned neatly folded. Please make sure all clothing is labeled with the camper's name inside.
WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL MY CHILD PARTICIPATE IN?
Our program grows as your child grows. Our youngest campers receive direct instruction in a variety of team and individual sports each week, swim instruction, a free swim in the lake, and elective activities where they can explore crafts, art, adventure, performing arts, circus, digital arts, individual sports, science and nature, and so much more (there are more than 60 different electives)! Our goal is to expose campers to as many activities as possible.
Older campers have fewer periods of direct instruction and more elective choices throughout their day. These campers have explored each of camp’s activities when they were younger, and have a better sense of where they’d prefer to spend their day.
In addition to our amazing schedule, campers with interests in sports, theater, circus, music, dance, gymnastics, robotics, or journalism can find activities geared towards those with more developed interests and skills.
3, 4, 7 WEEKS WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?
We pride ourselves on being able to cater to campers of all ages with different needs and expectations for the summer. Having two campuses lets us also cater to the amount of time campers are looking to stay at camp. At Chipinaw, all of our campers attend for a full 7-week summer session, while at Silver Lake, we offer two shorter sessions (4 weeks or 3 weeks) that pack all the fun and excitement of a full summer camp experience in half the time! The campuses are directly next door to one another and share some facilities.
